Plan an adjustable bench and dumbbells together
A bench and a dumbbell pair are two purchases with one footprint. Check the positions you need, the permitted storage, and the room for both before you buy either.

The short answer
Decide the bench positions you need first, then check the bench's documented size and storage rules, then place the dumbbell pair and its cradles or stand around it. The REP AB-3100 is our documented reference: a flat-incline bench with six back positions and three seat positions, a stated footprint of 7.9 sq ft and no support for decline or vertical storage. Neither product's outline is the whole training area.
Start with the positions you need
Write the positions you intend to use before comparing longer specification lists. The REP AB-3100 lists back pad angles of 0, 30, 45, 60, 75 and 90, and seat pad angles of 0, 10 and 20. It supports flat and incline use, not decline. If decline is a hard requirement, this bench does not satisfy it.
What the documentation says about size
Manufacturer figures for the AB-3100: 50.5 in long, 23 in wide and 16.75 in high assembled, 70 lb, with a stated footprint of 7.9 sq ft and a stated weight capacity of 700 lb. These are manufacturer figures, not Matsfit measurements. Matsfit has not established how the manufacturer defines the capacity, for example whether it includes equipment you hold, so confirm that with the manufacturer.
Storage is a separate decision
The manufacturer distinguishes the AB-3100 from the AB-4100 and says the AB-3100 is not designed for vertical storage. If upright storage is a hard requirement, the manufacturer must explicitly support it. Do not infer it from a photograph of another bench in the same range.
Add the dumbbells to the plan
Core lists 14.5 × 7.9 × 7.5 in per dumbbell at full size and two cradles with the pair; the elevated stand is separate. Exact delivered PowerBlock dimensions remain unconfirmed in our review. Neither is a footprint for the stored pair with cradles or a stand. See adjustable dumbbells for a small space for how to measure the stored, adjustment and working areas.
A simple way to lay it out
- Draw the bench's assembled length and width, plus the room to approach and sit down.
- Add where the dumbbell pair, its cradles or stand will live, and where you will return and adjust them.
- Check that the bench's permitted storage arrangement fits the room when the session ends.
- Keep each number labelled as yours or as a dated manufacturer figure.

Frequently asked questions
What positions does the REP AB-3100 support?
The manufacturer lists back pad angles of 0, 30, 45, 60, 75 and 90, and seat pad angles of 0, 10 and 20. It supports flat and incline use, not decline.
How big is the REP AB-3100?
The manufacturer lists 50.5 in long, 23 in wide and 16.75 in high assembled, with a stated footprint of 7.9 sq ft. These are not Matsfit measurements.
Can the AB-3100 be stored vertically?
The manufacturer says it is not designed for vertical storage.
Do I need a bench to use adjustable dumbbells?
That depends on the movements you plan. This guide does not prescribe exercises or loads; it explains how to plan the equipment you choose.
Has Matsfit tested the bench or the dumbbells?
No. This guide is documentary.
